Dave is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with 20 years of experience and a Fellow with the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). He has lead technology organizations in both the public and private sector. Prior to founding Pratum, he most recently was the Chief Information Security Officer for a leading health informatics company. He also managed an information security group for a top 5 U.S. banking organization, was the CIO for a higher education institution and served as the information security officer for one of the largest municipal governments on the east coast. Dave received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Information Systems from Excelsior College. He has also taught and developed information technology curriculum at the post-secondary level, is a published author and speaker at national conferences.

Gary Witt has 30+ years of IT experience and 20+ years of Cisco experience. For the past 12 years, Gary led a team of eight system engineers at Cisco and has worked with various clients including many fortune 500 companies and hospitals across the region. Gary’s designs covered many aspects of networking including Cisco voice, call center technology, wireless, UCS, and security. Gary has held his R/s CCIE for 20+ years and currently holds a CCIE in Emeritus status.

Steve is a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) with over 10 years of technology and security experience. He has extensive experience with network and web application penetration testing, social engineering, forensics and security architecture. Steve currently leads the Managed Security Services division at Pratum including managed SIEM, vulnerability scanning as well as penetration testing services and incident response. Steve is a graduate of the University of Iowa.

James Pray

James L. Pray is a partner with the BrownWinick law firm and practices in the firm’s energy and infrastructure department, and is chair of the firm’s environmental practice group.

Jim serves as the firm’s Chief Information Officer, guiding the firm’s IT department, leading the firm’s security program, and managing vendor relations and contracts. He is regularly requested by banks, credit unions, pension administrators, and businesses to provide legal assistance in responding to malicious hacks and cyber-attacks. In that capacity he works with IT forensic specialists. He has also represented IT professionals who have been sued or accused of exceeding their authorization under federal criminal statutes protecting critical federal and private computing and networking infrastructure and has defended or prosecuted property loss claims arising from hacking or software defects in federal court. He published one of the first warnings about the legal implications of distributed computing in an article published in 1997.

Since 2006, Jim has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® for Environmental Law and in 2013 was named Best Lawyers' Lawyer of the Year in Environmental Law.

Jim received his B.S., magna cum laude, in 1980 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa in 1984. He was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1985.

As an Assistant Vice President, Executive Risk Practice Leader, Miles Weis leads the charge in providing education, expertise, industry knowledge, and the most comprehensive insurance solutions to our Holmes Murphy clients.

Miles delivers educational seminars on executive risk topics for clients and employees. He also teaches Continuing Education (CE) courses on subjects including cyber liability, directors and officers, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, porfessional liability, crime insurance, and kidnap and ransom insurance.

Miles holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Economics from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa. He also minored in German and received his International Business Certificate. Miles has earned his Associate in Fidelity & Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation and holds a certificate in Professional Liability Insurance from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). He’s also a member of PLUS.

Prior to joining Holmes Murphy, Miles worked at Travelers Insurance in several roles, including leading and managing a team of executive risk underwriters. In this role, he was tasked with underwriting and designing executive risk insurance programs for the company’s clients’ needs.
