On September 18, 2015, I attended the National Cyber Security Awareness Month on the Hill event hosted by the National Cyber Security Alliance and Congressman Michael Burgess (TX) in Washington D.C. The event was filled with distinguished speakers such as Katherine McCarron, Attorney in the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, Federal Trade Commission and Kristina Dorville, Branch Chief, Cyber Education & Awareness, National Protection and Programs, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. These presenters covered a number of topics, shared valuable insight into the importance of NCSAM and provided a plethora of printed and digital resources that we will be sharing at out NCSAM events.

Attending this event was a great way to get excited about next month’s activities. Pratum is partnering with our local library - Kirkendall Public Library in Ankeny, IA - to provide cybersecurity awareness events for the public. Our sessions will include interactive presentations along with take-home resources for all attendees. There will be three separate events: one for 6th & 7th grade students, another for 8th – 12th grade students and an extensive session for adults. Our NCSAM events will be held at the library on October 19, 2015. If you are interested in helping with these events, contact Pratum via email.
